Do you have dry skin? Then you need this foundation in your life. Right after the first application, I fell head over heels for this wonderful novelty by L’Oreal Paris. Its super cute compact packaging, makes this product really easy to use on a day to day basis. Need to touch up during the day, at work or before an afterwork party? I’m taking out my L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion compact and recreate a flawless complexion in no time.
After conquering the Asian market and ranges from luxury brands such as Lancôme or Givenchy, cushion foundations are invading drugstore shelves with this L’Oreal Paris Nude Magique Cushion foundation which has everything to delight consumers. Preciously contained into its cushion, the creamy and lightweight foundation is easy to apply and has a medium to full buildable coverage while giving a fresh and luminous finish. What you’re going to adore if your skin is dry and dehydrated, it’s that this product doesn’t hold onto dry patches. Bye bye dull and cakey complexion, here we’re looking fresh and natural, the healthy glow is guaranteed! On the other hand, if you have combination to oily skin and you don’t like that shiny skin look, skip this one, this foundation will not live up to your matte expectations.
Personnally, I chose not to use the sponge provided with the compact, for sanitary purposes, because it looked hard to clean after each use. Therefore, I decided to apply the foundation with a Beauty Blender sponge or a Complexion Sponge by Real Techniques, bouncing it on my face until achieving an even look and blending it down my neck to avoid any demarcations.
With regards to the lasting power of this product, it is what you can usually expect from a dewy and luminous foundation: 4 to 6 hours without touch-ups. But a good primer and a finishing spray will always ensure the longevity of your makeup.
Although I’ve had a massive crush for the texture and finish of this foundation, I have to admit it still has some significant shortcomings. First of all, the number of shades available in the range is limited to 7, therefore there’s not any adapted choices for very fair or dark skin tones. Then, while the packaging has been well designed to prevent the product from drying up with its double opening, the compact contains only half the quantity of product a standard foundation bottle would normally hold and some of that product will inevitably be wasted, trapped in the cushion. We’re then reduced way to quickly to scraping the bottom of the box or to loosen up the cushion from its packaging to collect the last drops of product. All the reasons why I think this product is overpriced. It is sold at around 20€ which is quite high for a drugstore item.
If like me you’re desperate to find a foundation that will give a healthy glow to your dry dehydrated skin, and if you’re willing to spend a bit more to achieve that look, I recommend you try L’Oreal’s Nude Magique Cushion foundation. It will quickly become your daily beauty ally. For all the others, don’t give in to the hype, there are plenty of other products out there with better value for money.
