Taking care of your skin is the most important step in your daily beauty regime. That is why, about three months ago now, I decided to boost up my skincare routine and opted for luxury products whose effectiveness were not to be proven. So here are a few steps and products that allowed me to rebalance my skin, and regain a bright, radiant and perfectly hydrated complexion.
Clarisonic Facial Cleansing Brush and Toleriane, gel moussant adoucissant from Laroche-Posay : I used to use my Clarisonic Mia 2 every morning in combination with the Toleriane gel moussant adoucissant from Laroche-Posay. This sonic cleansing brush stays, even now, one of my bathroom staples and I’ve used it religiously everyday for about 3 years. On further consideration about the state of my skin, which was really dehydrated, I chose to opt for a rate of use that, I think, fits more my skin’s needs. I now use the brush punctually, 2 times a week, to manually exfoliate my skin. My favourite brush head is the one for sensitive skin. On other days of the week, I wash my face with Laroche-Posay’s gel, making the product foam with a little water in my hand and massaging it onto the face using circular motions. Its formula doesn’t contain any perfume, preserving agents or soap which makes this gel the perfect product to gently wash and cleanse hypersensitive, normal and combination skins. In fact, this product was recommanded to me by my dermatologist.
Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado: My second beauty ritual that I now won’t want to skip is applying an eye cream. I’m slowly moving into my thirties and while I’m still not using products that help to fight against the signs of aging, I am convinced that the most hydrated skin you keep, the less quickly you’ll see wrinkles appear. The Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado from Kiehl’s is brilliant. Really creamy straight out of the pot, its rich texture liquefies when in contact with the skin which allows the product to deeply penetrate, leaving my eyes brightened, fresh and awake. Formulated from avocado oil, shea butter and beta-carotene, this treatment is a real splash of moisture!
REN Ultra Moisture Day Cream: REN Skincare is a brand that uses only plant and mineral derived actives and is free from skin-unfriendly synthetic ingredients. What they advocate: “clean ingredients for clean skincare”. The Ultra Moisture Day Cream has been formulated to provide instant and long lasting hydration, leaving dry skin soothed and optimally hydrated. This replenishing day cream full of 100% natural bioactives help strengthen the skin’s natural barrier function. In concrete terms, the unique and specific blend of active ingredients (Hyaluronic Acid and Phytostimuline Peptide) are a boost of hydration and moisture et help soften the skin. Moreover, its fresh scent makes this product a delight to use. I shopped this product at Fresh Lab in Uccle, a luxurious cosmetics concept store which is worth the trip!
Clinique Take The Day Off – Cleansing Balm: In the evening, taking my makeup off is the first step of my beauty routine. Because I usually wear a full face of make up (foundation, blush, bronzer,…), it is essential for me to take a moment each night to deeply cleanse my skin, allowing it to breathe and to regain its natural radiance. What you can expect using Clinique Take The Day Off: a revolutionary way of taking your makeup off! It’s quick and effective without having to strip your skin off. This solid balm transforms into a silky oil upon application. Massage the product onto the face, add a little bit of water and the product turns into a cleansing milk. Rince off with warm water and a face cloth and voilà… A thoroughly cleansed skin without stinging or dryness. Formulated without perfume, this product is also recommanded for the most sensitive skins. Only drawback, if you like wearing smoky eyes or heavily applying your mascara, you better take your eye makeup first before using Take The Day Off. For that I usually go for Bioderma micellar water, a staple that gently dissolves tenacious makeup in no time.
Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1: Clinique created the perfect toner for dry to very dry skins. The Clarifying Lotion 1 rebalances the skin’s ph, gently exfoliates and removes impurities causing dull complexion while maintaning moisture levels. Moreover, this mild chemical exfoliant softens fine lines caused by dry skin and significantly improves the appearance of pores. Fresh and invigorated, skin is softer, clearer and more radiant. While I didn’t expect much from a toner – mainly because they contain alcohol which tend to irritate my skin more than they improve its appearance – this one completely won me over.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate: This replenishing nighttime concentrate is made from 99.8% naturally-derived and paraben-free oils, that is: Evening Primrose oil, which is an effective on skin barrier repair and boosting radiance, Lavender Essential oil, which helps soothe inflamed or irritated skin while helping reduce skin blotchiness for a more even look, and Squalane, an active that preserve skin’s hydrolipidic film. This beauty oil can be applied on its own or under a moisturiser and works with the skin’s natural nocturnal activity for a replenished smoother skin by morning. Two or three drops are enough to cover your whole face, which makes it a great value for money. Furthermore, the scent of this oil is devine… Light up some candles, gently press the product onto the skin with your fingertips and get instantly transported to your favourite spa.
And you, how do you envision your daily beauty routine? What are the products that contribute to your skin’s health?
